Living With Covid-19
“My wife and I will eventually get it. It may not be this year, but we will likely get Covid-19.”
That’s a frightening statement from a microbiologist who has studied flu viruses and teaches graduate students at the University of Wisconsin. Todd Miller, Ph.D. (my brother) had me in a humble stance this morning as I peppered him with questions before sending out this ARISE Update.
Dr. Todd’s dramatic declaration is based on the rapid global transmission of the latest coronavirus. It travels quickly. But, his statement is only frightening if you are buying into the media’s terror campaign. My brother expects to get and survive Covid-19, without any long-term complications, for good reason.
All of you reading this survived the mutation-happy (H1N1) swine flu, which killed over 12,000 Americans in 2009 and 2010 (1). And if you do what I recommend, it is highly likely that you will survive the Covid-19 outbreak also – even if you get infected. My rationale follows, ending with recommendations on how to improve your immune integrity.
Here’s the good news, and why my brother and I are more worried about the global economic impact of this epidemic than we are about dying from Covid-19.
* According to Anthony S. Faci, MD, et al. – New England Journal of Medicine, February 28, 2020, Covid-19 is structurally related to SARS. But, it doesn’t appear to be nearly as deadly (2). Like Influenza A, and B – which has killed over 18,000 Americans this year (3) – Covid-19 is primarily killing the elderly and the immunocompromised. With few exceptions, those who are healthy and get infected survive without significant consequences.
* The overall percentage of people dying from Coronavirus continues to come down as we
understand that a lot of people have acquired Covid-19 without developing major signs or symptoms (shortness of breath for instance). According to Dr. Faci,
“ the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.”
I am not saying that we shouldn’t fear Covid-19. We in the medical community are still getting our brains around this new virus. But, the vast majority of the ARISE Citizen Scientists should be using your heightened vigilance and concern for a more productive long-term purpose. Let’s seize this opportunity to understand and improve our immune integrity and in doing so, remove ourselves from the “susceptible host” list.

Here’s what you and your family should do today to reduce your risk of getting Covid19 (or any other virus for that matter) and hasten your recovery if you get infected.
Support Your Immune System
____________________________________________________
Internal Support:
IV Vitamin C – a powerful antioxidant to help reduce inflammation. The IV infusions typically take 40 minutes and few side effects are reported.
*those with G6PD deficiencies should not do high-dose IV vitamin C.
Vitamin C (oral) – a potent anti-viral; key supporter of the adrenal glands and your stress response; a powerful anti-oxidant needed for glutathione (master antioxidant) production. We like Perque’s buffered Vitamin C Guard tabsules. ** China is reaching for vitamin C to treat Coronavirus (4).
Adults
prevention: 3 grams by mouth three times per day until June 1st, 2020.
treatment of illness: If you start to feel sick work up to 5 grams by mouth three times per day.
Kids (less than 12 years)
prevention: 1.5 grams (one tabsule) three times per day.
treatment of illness: If they start to feel sick then double the dosing.

Vitamin D – critical for immune modulation and often overlooked as a part of an immune-boosting cocktail.
Adults
prevention: 50,000 iu / week until your serum vitamin D level is 60-80. treatment : add 10,000 iu / day until recovery
treatment: add 10,000 iu / day until recovery
Kids (less than 12 years)
prevention: 20,000 iu/ week until serum vitamin D level is 30-60 treatment: add 5,000 iu/ day until recovery
treatment: add 5,000 iu/ day until recovery

Viracid – contains elderberry extract, echinacea, astragalus, and other natural anti-virals. prevention: Take 2 caps twice per day until June 1, 2020.
treatment: If you start to feel sick then double the dose to 4 caps twice per day
* if Viracid is back ordered, we like Metagenics’ Essential Defense 2 tablets per day for prevention and 4 per day for treatment. And we like Integrative Therapeutics’ Sambucus syrup

Passive Immunity – bring in the national guard! Immunoglobulins offer “passive immunity” for the gut, where 70% of your immune system resides. When you take Immunoglobulins (antibodies) by mouth it is like giving your own immune system a temporary rest and recovery period.
Prevention / Treatment >
Powder (mixes in water, juice, smoothie) – SBI Protect (Orthomolecular) – mix one full scoop into water or smoothie daily. If sick take one scoop twice per day.
Capsules – Ig26 (Xymogen) – take 2 caps daily. If sick take 2 caps twice per day
Kids: use 1/2 the adult dosage
____________________________________________________
Biocidin LSF – This poly-botanical is a powerful biofilm buster. By disrupting biofilms around bacteria, fungus, and viruses your own immune system is able to do its job more easily.
Adults
prevention: 1 pump under the tongue, hold for 30 seconds and swallow daily
treatment: start at 1 pump twice per day; may need up to 5 pumps per day.
Kids
prevention: 1 pump under the tongue, hold for 30 seconds and swallow three times per week
treatment: start at 1 pump per day; may need 2 pumps per day if start to get sick

Topical Support:
Biocidin Throat Spray – While the Biocidin LSF works within your bloodstream and tissues, the throat regulates the microbes residing in the throat.
Adults
prevention: 1 spray on throat twice daily
treatment: start at 2 pumps three times per day; may need 2 pumps five times per day.
Kids
prevention: 1 spray daily
treatment: start at 1 pump three times per day; may need 1 pump five times per day.
Silver Nasal Spray – silver is a natural anti-microbial that is safe for human use topically
Adults and Kids
prevention: 1 spray each nostril each day for three days per week
treatment: 1 spray each nostril every day

Home Support:
Probiotic Air Spray — We like to enhance the home, office and car biomes by spraying P2 Probiotic Power“I help you breathe”spore-based probiotic solution. After cleaning surfaces and vacuuming carpets walk from room to room spraying the probiotic solution towards the ceiling and letting it fall onto hard and fabric surfaces. Do this once per week.
Hand Washing– wash hands three to five times per day with soap and water. A 60% alcohol hand sanitizer solution is good to use also throughout the day.
Masks – it is difficult to get the appropriate masks needed at this time. Mine are back ordered until the end of the month. Therefore, avoid areas where people are sneezing and coughing.
Immunizations – If you did not get the flu vaccine in September – November, I do not recommend getting the flu vaccine now.
Early Action – if you or a member of your home has a cough, sneeze and fever you should see your primary care doctor for an evaluation, and testing.
Prioritize rest and clean eating – your immune system needs all the help it can get, and does most its repair and rebalancing while you sleep. So plan to get 8 hours of sleep each night. Stay hydrated with 2 litres of purified water per day. Limit alcohol and simple carbohydrates.

Assess your immune system
Modern testing allows you to identify weaknesses in your immune system – before an infection strikes. If you are concerned about your susceptibility to infections, consider the following tests:
food and environmental allergies, vitamin D, hs-CRP, HgA1C, white blood cell levels, stool analysis, 24-hour cortisol testing (saliva).
A small investment in testing is prudent if you are concerned about your susceptibility to infections.
We are here to help. The immune support products that we listed above are available individually or as a First Aid Bundle (discounted).
